Diagonal Stripe Birthday Card

If you guys haven't already figured out, I'm so in love with simple cards! I love being able to throw something together real quick because - let's face it - crafting and procrastinating pretty much go hand in hand. Since this week has been up on the temperature... like in the 100's... it gave me a lot more time to explore new crafting ideas! This card is super simple and you won't need a lot of supplies to make it.

You will need card stock in a few different colors. I chose black, white and blue just because they looked so sweet and elegant and they work for just about any occasion and anyone's birthday in this case. I used strips that were from a 5"x 7" paper pad by Paper Accents, but it wouldn't be hard to do this with 12"x 12" or 8-1/2" x 11". Cut strips to 1/2" in width by whatever your length is. You are also going to need a based piece in white that is cut 3-3/4" x 5".

Cut pieces of the paper into strips so that you can build your diagonal lines. I used a Tombow Tape Runner to attach them to the white base.

Start layering your pieces so you cover your entire background piece.

Cover your entire piece. Don't worry if there is hang over, you will trim that later. I also changed direction as I was working to give it a different look.

Here is my final background piece. I added a black piece in between my white card based and this to create a little dimension. The black piece is cut 4" x 5-1/4". So you just a have a little black showing and still have your white card base showing as well.

Now for the sentiment: measure the size of your sentiment that you want to use. I like the Happy Everything Stamp from Lawn Fawn. Add an extra 1/2" going both ways and then cut that out of white. Add 1/2" to the size of the white and cut the blue, then repeat the process with the black.
Stamp your sentiment and then tape runner it to your card.
